Cecelia F. Veara, 93
Cecelia F. (Avila) Veara, 93, died Friday, Feb. 20, at Quaboag on the Common Nursing Home in West Brookfield. She was the wife of Joseph Veara, who died in 1976.
Born in Provincetown on Sept. 23, 1915, she was the daughter of John Silva and Emma (Meads) Avila, and resided there for 86 years.
Mrs. Veara was a manager of several area hotels in Provincetown, most notably the Provincetown Inn for 30 years, retiring at age 82. She also once managed the Sand Castle Hotel. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Provincetown.
She leaves three sisters, Mary E. Ramsey of Spencer, Margaret Spor of New Jersey, and Dorothy Pierce of Manchester, Conn., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held for Cecelia in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Provincetown, at a later date. J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Homes, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer, is directing arrangements for the family.
