Incorporated in 1763, Wellfleet offers an abundance of quaint rural seaside character and charm with a yearround population of 2749. The town is well known for its shellfish, especially the famous "Wellfleet Oysters". Visitors should not miss the Annual Wellfleet Oysterfest in October.

BEACHES:
On the ocean side are Newcomb Hollow, Cahoon Hollow, White Crest Beach, and Maguires Landing all with parking. Call (508) 349-0300 to check parking fees and permitting.

On the bay side: Indian Neck, Mayo Beach, Powers Landing and Duck Harbor all with parking. Call (508) 349-0300 to check parking fees and permitting.

SURFING/HANG GLIDING:
Surfboards and hang gliders are restricted to White Crest Beach, and hang gliders are allowed only before 9 AM and after 5 PM. Parking along Ocean View Drive is prohibited and subject to fine and towing, even with a beach parking permit. Windsurfing is only allowed at Burton Baker Beach, at Indian Neck (regulations can be obtained at the beach sticker booth on the Town Pier).

BEACH PARKING PERMITS: Beach parking permits are required at most Wellfleet beaches from the Saturday prior to July 1st, till Labor Day. Non-resident beach parking permit fees are: 1 -week: $50, 2-week: $95 or Season: $200 and are available at the Beach Sticker Booth on the Town Pier, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM daily; 'til 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday.

PONDS:
Wellfllet has three major fresh water ponds: Gull, Great and Long Ponds. Parking permits are required. The ponds are stocked with several varieties of trout, joining native perch, pickerel and sunfish. FISHING:Fishing licenses are not required for saltwater fishing; freshwater anglers age 15 and up can obtain licenses at Town Hall. Always check Fish & Game Regulations for species size limits and quantity.
